Capabilities

The MPL is equipped with numerous machine tools and other equipment. Work done by the MPL has been deployed to Antarctica and Greenland. We have made parts that function in extreme pressure environments, both high pressure (fluid-filled polar borehole at ~2500 PSI) as well as high vacuum.

Fabrication Capabilities

It is most common for the customer to supply the raw materials for fabrication. Please check with shop staff before ordering materials for a new job. The MPL has a variety of band saws and a cold saw to cut stock to size.

The MPL has several CNC and manual mills and lathes

We can provide a few different types of finish in-house. The most common are machined finish and abraded surfaces. The MPL also has a bead blasting cabinet and a small vibratory tumbler.

We have a Creality K1 Max for 3D printing.

The shop uses Autodesk Inventor for CAD design work, but we can import many different file types. STEP files are a compatible generic file type.

We use Autodesk FeatureCAM for generating our CNC programs.
